Les Grobstein is one of the most distinctive sports-talk personalities on radio in recent decades. He grew up in the cheap seats of Chicago's ballparks. He is an encyclopedia of sports information and memories, supplemented by colorful opinions. Grobstein handled a variety of sports casting assignments and hosting duties for Chicago stations WLS, WSCR and WMVP along with the ABC, AP and Sporting News radio networks. Les serves as the play-by-play voice of the WNBA's Chicago Sky.
Recently he hosted Notre Dame Football pre- and post-game programming on WLS. Grobstein also has done radio play-by-play for the University of Illinois-Chicago basketball as well as hockey for 15 years. Les provided play-by-play of Northwestern Wildcat basketball for eight years. From 1987-89 he broadcast the Chicago Bruisers Arena football
on radio and television.
He has even filled in on Montreal Expos English-language baseball
broadcasts. As a reporter, Grobstein has covered more than two dozen Super Bowls, World Series, and every MLB All-Star game since 1970. Les received his Bachelors Degree from Columbia College-Chicago in 1973, and has taught courses in broadcasting there. |
